Stencilling weedmatts, Massey University, Wellington
Te Waituhi ā Nuku: Drawing Ecologies artist collective made their final push towards the Waikōkopu stream restoration… We stencilled eight, 30m-long hemp weedmatts with our home-made biochar paint. The Waewae Pakura pattern represents the pukeko (swamp hen), and is based on their footprints stamped in the muddy Waikōkopu stream edge. It was a back-breaking week but we did it! The rolls were loaded on the trailer and transported to Kuku, ready to cloak the stream.
We couldn’t have done this without the mahi of our amazing volunteers.
